Connerton returns to Lancaster City from Chorley

The 26-year-old is back for his fourth spell at Giant Axe having helped the National League North side beat the Dolly Blues in the Lancashire FA Challenge Trophy final last season.

City boss Phil Brown said: “I’m really pleased to have secured Jordan, he’s an excellent player and will add massively to our attacking threat.

“We’ve known Jordan a long time and have been monitoring his situation.

“Once we thought there was an opportunity to bring him back to Lancaster we acted quickly.

“Strikers of Jordan’s calibre are difficult to secure, so it’s a great signing for us.”

Connerton most notably scored 29 league goals for City in the 2009-2010 season which saw him secure a move to the Football League with Crewe Alexandra.

Injury hampered his time at Gresty Road however, with the Lancaster-born front man spending time on loan with Nantwich Town, Icelandic side Íþróttabandalag Vestmannaeyja and Workington.

A full-time move to the Cumbrians followed before a spell at Kendal Town.

He then returned to Giant Axe in 2014, scoring 10 goals in 14 games before leaving for Australia and signing for Chorley on his return to England.

The Magpies have given their blessing to the move, with the club indicating Connerton has headed back home in search of first team football after the arrivals of Marcus Carver, Sefton Gonzales and Jason Walker at Victory Park this summer.

A statement said: “Although we are disappointed with Jordan’s decision, as we feel that he brought us different options to the other strikers, we also respect his decision and thank him for everything he has done in his short time with our club.”
