Garstang made it four wins in a row and moved up to seven in the West Lancashire Premier Division after an emphatic victory over Thornton Cleveleys.
In the first game of the post Iain Swan era reserve team managers Alec Curwen and Paul Bailey oversaw the thumping win at the Riverside thanks in the main to four goals for Matty Poole.
The opener came in the 11th minute when Poole profited on a defensive mistake to fire home.
Garstang were dominant in the opening period, Poole hitting a post with strike partner Dre Mattichechia also coming close.
The long-awaited second came three minutes before the break when Poole forced the ball over the line after good pressing and a quality cross from Gary Fawcett.
Poole completed his hat-trick and all but ended the game as a contest on 57 minutes as he scrambled the ball home.
Thornton rallied but Mark Thornley showed all his experience between the sticks for Garstang, the biggest scare coming when a Dawson strike was deflected on to and over the bar.
Poole soon has his fourth however after good work from Jack Swindlehurst and Leon Gierke.
Hastings was then sent off for the visitors for a second yellow card with Swindlehurst adding Garstang’s fifth after a fine pass inside the full back from Gierke.
