Morecambe Ladies recorded a 5-0 win over Chester on Sunday.
Morecambe took the lead when Emma Reader launched a kick, route one, Doherty was on the end of it, she managed to lift the ball over the advancing Reid but despite the keeper accidentally clipping Megan in the eye, she managed to follow the bouncing ball and out reach two defenders on the line to score.
Two minutes later, good work by Sophie Fish on the left set Thornhill off into the box and her hard low cross was met by Sammie Hindle who stuck out a foot, the ball hit the bar.
A Nyomie Kuta corner beat the defence and the keeper and Sophie Killip’s run was perfectly timed to head the ball home to give the Ladies a 2-0 lead.
It was soon 3-0 when a Kuta cross was put behind for another corner, she put in another dangling ball this time met by Doherty to head into the top left corner.
Chester came back with a strong run down the left by Jackie Gillespie but her shot was too far out to cause Emma Reader a problem in the Morecambe goal, and when Samson sent over a low corner Helen Cann headed a bullet which Jade Thornhill cleared off the line.
Halfway through the second half Doherty won the ball outside the Chester box, took a couple of steps and looped the ball over the keepers head, 4-0.
And with four minutes left Doherty beat the Chester keeper and a defender to a cross and turned the ball into the net to make it 5-0.
Megan also had a header from a corner sneak over the bar and almost scored again from a similar effort to the last goal but it finished 5-0.
