Former Premier League defender Darren Peacock is set to become the new head coach of Lancaster City.
The 45-year-old made his name with Newcastle United, Blackburn Rovers and Queens Park Rangers in the 1990s.
He has no previous managerial experience and has been out of the game since retiring through injury in 2000 but is currently taking his coaching badges and is keen on a return to football.
The Lancaster Guardian understands Peacock will begin his role in around two weeks time with the finer details of the deal and the make-up of the Dolly Blues’ coaching staff still to be finalised.
Director of football Mick Hoyle has been in caretaker charge of the club since the departures of joint managers Neil Wainwright and Michael Stringfellow in February.
Former Morecambe assistant boss Andy Mutch was originally linked with the role but Peacock has been chosen as the man to take the club forward.
