MORECAMBE darts ace Dave Chisnall crashed out in the first round of the World Matchplay on Tuesday night.

“Chizzy” fell to a 10-7 defeat to local favourite Ronnie Baxter at the Winter Gardens in Blackpool in front of the Sky Sports cameras.

Chisnall hit seven 180s and a 170 finish, but never recovered from allowing 1998 runner-up Baxter to get into a 3-0 lead as he hit six maximums, finishes of 133 and 108 and two 11-darters in a fine display.

The result is a rare early exit for the Morecambe man this year who has so far reached the UK Open semi-finals and won four Players Championship events, beating Baxter in one of the finals at the end of June.
