TWO of Skerton’s boxers were in action on Friday night in Cleator Moor.

John Scarfe (11) was first up for Skerton and was giving away age, weight and experience against his opponent, but this didn’t daunt the young warrior.

John took the fight to his opponent from Carlisle from the very first bell, connecting with good strong shots to the head and body.

The second and third round were action packed, but the crowd were left in no doubt who was the victor and John’s hand was raised at the final bell.

The second Skerton boxer to step through the ropes was Jack Catlow.

Jack was against a very accomplished and experienced opponent who was boxing in front of a very vocal sell-out home crowd.

Jack knew his opponent would come out all guns blazing from the first bell, and the Skerton boxer deployed good skills on the back foot to take the initial flurry of punches off his opponent and responded with fast counter punches.

Going into the second round Jack started to push the pace more and stepped up to his opponent and scored some very clever clean head shots, still ensuring he didn’t get involved in an unnecessary tear up.

The third round again saw Jack boxing cleverly and frustrating his opponent into making mistakes which Jack immediately jumped on and connected with much cleaner scoring shots. Deep into the third round Jack hit his opponent with a peach of a body shot that rocked him to his boots, but credit to the young boxer he managed to get through to the bell.

The decision was announced and Jack was awarded the win after a hard fought battle, this will be a guaranteed rematch that both boxers will relish.
