Skerton Amateur Boxing Club will have two representatives in the semi-finals of the National Junior Championships this weekend.

Shaun Michael Varey and Lewis Marshall will both be in action in Sheffield this weekend and are also in line for England call-ups.

Varey won through his quarter-final in Croxteth on Sunday while Marshall received a bye.

Varey took on Shaun Arkwright from Liverpool-based Salisbury ABC that produced heavyweight prospect David Price.

The pair had met on Merseyside recently with Skerton unhappy about a decision that had gone against Varey.

The fighter from the Morecambe-based club got his revenge though, going on the attack from the off to ensure there could be no doubt about the winner.

After controlling the three rounds the travelling Skerton fans raised the roof when Varey was announced as a unanimous points winner.

Varey will be joined by Marshall at Ponds Forge, Sheffield, on Saturday and if successful the pair will take part in the finals the following day.
