Boxers hit the Palace

TWO young fighters from the Lancaster Boys ABC travelled to the Isle of Man last weekend after an invite from the Isle of Man Amateur Boxing Club.

The event was held at the Palace hotel in Douglas in front of a crowd of more than 200 people.

Joanthon Vernon, 11, and Marcin Lewinski, 15, had bouts against fighters from the Isle of Man and Chester respectively.

Johnathon was first up in a schoolboy skills contest against a local opponent who had a distinct weight advantage. After a great combative performance against a slick counterpart both boys’ arms were raised, and they received a rapturous reception from an appreciative audience.

Marcin was in a re-match with an opponent he had narrowly and controversially lost a points decision too at the end of 2010. This time there was to be no dispute.
