St John’s Hospice is to receive a share of £5,900 generated at a fundraising ball.

The cash will be split between the Lancaster-based charity and the Rosemere Cancer Foundation following the event at The Globe Arena in Morecambe.

It was organised by the town’s Stephen James Hair Salon to mark its 30 years in business.

More than 200 guests enjoyed a purple-themed night which included a champagne reception, a buffet created by the football club’s award winning caterers and live music from Lancaster Group Twentyfourseven.

Co-owner Stephen James said: “It was a wonderful evening and a great way to pay tribute to the staff and clients that have helped my wife and I enjoy such an incredible 30 years in business.”

Joanne Humphrey, community fundraiser at St John’s Hospice, said: “We are so grateful to members of the local community like Stephen and Dawn who have put so much hard work into putting on a fabulous fundraising event.”

Anne Sweeney, from the Rosemere Cancer Foundation, added: “It was truly a night to remember. All the funds raised will go directly to fund care and vital research, making a real difference to local people.”
