THE Lancaster district fell silent on Sunday to remember those lost in wars at the annual Remembrance Day services.

Veterans and current servicemen were among those taking part in the day, including 90-year-old Thomas Slack from Lancaster, who was in the 1st Battalion Parachute Regiment.

Remembrance crosses and photographs were placed in the Garden of Remembrance at Lancaster Town Hall.

Among those at the service was six-year-old Sophie Martin, who laid a wreath in memory of her great grandad Walter Moscrop.

Mayor of Lancaster Paul Woodruff laid a wreath in Lancaster on behalf of the city, while at the Service of Remembrance at Morecambe Cenotaph, deputy mayor Coun Keith Sowden placed a wreath.
