Witness appeal after three people airlifted to hospital following A65 crash near Ingleton

Police have asked drivers who were using the A65 near Ingleton yesterday to contact them after three people were hurt in a serious crash.

The road at Newby was closed from 2pm until late last night while the three-vehicle collision was investigated and motorists diverted through Bentham.

Three people were airlifted to hospitals in Preston and Leeds. Six people were in the three vehicles.

They were a black Volkswagen Passat, a black Skoda Fabia and a black Audi A4.

North Yorkshire Police said the male driver of the Passat and a passenger plus an occupant of the Skoda were flown to hospital via air ambulance.

Skipton Police said the accident involved ‘serious injury’.

Writing on Twitter, the police said they needed to trace anyone who may have seen the three cars prior to the collision and urged people to telephone 101, qouting ref no 12130161913.
