A new event showcasing the work done by Lancaster district residents to make their homes greener is looking for examples of good practice.
The Lancaster District Green Open Homes event, run by Lancaster Cohousing and LESS, is calling on people who may have insulated their home, put solar panels on their roof, installed a smart meter or rain water harvesting, or even built their own eco home, to get in touch.
The organisers are looking for people willing to showcase their homes to other people as part of the Green Open Homes weekends between March and May this year.
One of the organisers, Alison Cahn said: “We’re interested in people who have done anything from installing a super energy efficient boiler or carrying out simple draught proofing measures to retrofitting a whole home or building a new one.
“Participants could open their home for just part of a day or for all four days over both weekends, whatever suits them best.”
A quarter of the UK’s carbon emissions come from energy used in the home so there is potential to save carbon, and save money. Anyone interested should contact Kathy on 07825 610342 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
