THE wedding of a former Lancaster couple bears uncanny resemblances to this year’s most talked about event.
William and Catherine Wales, who are now deceased but who lived in Perth Street, were married on April 15, 1933, and of course share the same name as the country’s very own royal man and wife in waiting.
The couple’s daughter, Barbara Daglish, from Bowerham Road, said her parents would have been delighted to know that they shared something in common with William and Kate, who will tie the knot 78 years later on April 29.
“They met at the Morecambe Winter Gardens after mum got lost and found herself in the boxing room, where dad was watching a fight,” said Barbara.
