Boxing isn’t an activity that I thought I’d ever enjoy but there’s something incredibly therapeutic about knocking seven bells out of a punchbag.

During my recent training sessions at Fitness Formation I’ve had a few shots at boxing.

As a fan of the Rocky films I found it great fun when Ryan played the theme tune to Rocky III – Eye of the Tiger by Survivor – and I had a go at throwing a few punches.

I don’t know whether I was more like Rocky or Mr T. Probably Mr T (with all his chunky jewellery and dislike of flying).

Anyway the music spurred me on and Ryan suggested I think of someone who really annoys me as I bobbed and weaved around the punchbag. It worked and I nearly thumped poor Ryan by accident.

I would never want to be in a boxing match with another person but hitting the punchbag did release a lot of nervous energy.

Being hit in the face would be awful. How boxers like Morecambe’s Tyson Fury cope with it, I’ll never know.

I was surprised at how physical boxing is. By the time I’d given it my best shots, I was worn to a frazzle. Great exercise though.

Ryan also did a short video of the boxing (pretty dodgy). It’s on our website if you want a laugh.

There are two new faces at the Fitness Formation studio in Lancaster. Ryan has taken on Phil Jackson and Ryan Williams. Tough task-masters but they know how to get results.

Ryan is also running a back to school transformation contest with a £500 prize. Visit www.backtoschooltransformation.fitnessformation.co.uk or look on Facebook.
