World heavyweight boxing champion Tyson Fury has been honoured by the Houses of Parliament.

David Morris, MP for Morecambe and Lunesdale, tabled an official Parliamentary motion congratulating the Morecambe fighter on winning the title.

It said: “That this House congratulates Tyson Fury for being crowned Heavyweight Boxing Champion of the World; celebrates that Tyson Fury defeated reigning Champion Wladimir Klitschko on Saturday the 27th November; recognises that Tyson defeated Klitschko after 12 rounds and the judges unanimously crowned him as the winner; and notes that constituents in Morecambe and Lunesdale, where he lives, are extremely proud of their champion.”

Tyson recently revealed his wish to stand against Mr Morris as MP in the next election.

The Morecambe boxer defeated Klitschko on points in Dusseldorf, Germany, to become champion.
