THEY arrived more than four weeks early – but new-born twins Harvey and Nahla D’Alton will have to wait four years for their first birthday.

For the pair were born yesterday, February 29, a date which only appears on the calendar in Leap Years.

Proud parents Ben and Fiona D’Alton from Heysham Road, Heysham, have been told the babies, their first children, are healthy and hope to have them home by the weekend.

Fiona, 31, is a carer, and Ben, 26, works for renewable energy firm Infinis Energy on White Lund.

said: “We were a little bit unprepared for the early arrival but we are just excited.

“We’ve not really had chance to think about the fact they will only have a birthday every four years. I suppose it will be quite unusual for them and it could save us money on birthday presents!”
