Lancastrians might have thought it was a scene from The Scottish Play when they saw a 30-foot high tree making its way from Pizza Margherita to The Storey earlier this week.
In fact the tree will be part of a modern Scottish play, Iron, set in a Glasgow jail and written by award-winning playwright, Rona Munro.
The tree has been donated to The Grand Theatre props department by Pizza Margherita for the Studio Footlights production, to be performed at The Storey in March.
Wendy Allen, who founded Pizza Margherita more than 30 years ago, said: “The décor at Pizza Margherita is changing and it’s time for the tree to go… and where better than the Grand Theatre? Another well-established venue with an equally fine reputation.”
Carrying the tree to The Storey where the drama unfolds is Christine Burn who plays Fay in Iron, with Brenda Casso and Laura Tooze-Froggatt from Pizza Margherita and Grand Theatre technician Kevin Harwood,Iron will be performed at The Storey from Wednesday, March 20 – Friday, March 22.
Tickets are available from the Grand Theatre on 01524 64695 or www.lancastergrand.co.uk.
