Transport firm goes into administration

A COMMUNITY transport initiative in Bentham has confirmed it has gone into administration.

Little Red Bus Craven, which was set up by Bentham Development Trust in 2000 to create travel opportunities in rural North Yorkshire, went into administration on March 30.

In January a member of staff who worked at Bentham Development Trust and Little Red Bus Craven, was suspended after “irregularities” were found in its accounts.

North Yorkshire Police said at the time it had launched an investigation into claims that up to £28,000 of taxpayers’ funds have been fraudulently taken from the organisations’ accounts.

A police spokeswoman said that so far, no one had been arrested.

A spokeswoman for North Yorkshire County Council said: “North Yorkshire County Council will work with Harrogate District Community Transport to ensure that services are maintained in the Craven District, with minimal disruption to service users.”
