It seems that everyone’s Christmas spirit is out in full form as the local community supports the Lancaster Guardian and BiG Storage Toy Appeal.
This week has seen many businesses and people from the local area walking through the facility doors to donate new toys to the appeal.
Businesses who are also located within BiG Storage have generously worked together to gather as many new toys as they can. These toys will help make Christmas more memorable for underprivileged and vulnerable children in the area.
With only a week left until most of the charities will have collected their donation of toys the rush is on to bring your donations to the collection point. The appeal is after new or unopened gifts for children and teenagers up to the age of 16.
Kevin Murphy, BiG Storage managing director, said: “A BiG thank you to the businesses and members of the community who are supporting the appeal. We would be grateful to receive donations from any business that manufactures or sells any product from toys to sports goods, or even computers and electronic goods that are appropriate for Christmas presents.”
“For the last few years the staff at a number of businesses supported the appeal by taking in toys to work and then dropping them off at one of the BiG Storage facilities.
“Others raised money to buy toys for the appeal.” The charities which will benefit from the appeal are:
nChildren and Parenting Services (CAPS) who help to improve quality of life outcomes through bringing different agencies and services together to provide a more ‘joined up’ service for children, young people and their families.
*Unique Kidz & Co who provide specialist services for disabled children and their families in the Lancaster area. The charity was founded in 2009 by two mums of disabled children unable to find suitable childcare or social activities for their children.
Their services allow parents and carers of disabled children to return to work or education, spend time with other family members, or have some much needed respite.
Your toys can be dropped off at BiG Storage, Northgate, White Lund Industrial Estate, Morecambe (100 yards from ASDA), Monday to Friday from 8.30am to 5.30pm and Saturdays 9am to 2pm.
