Footballers from Heysham Power Station have been limbering up for the annual soap stars charity football match by taking a sneak preview of the Globe Arena.

Soap stars from Coronation Street, Hollyoaks, Emmerdale will be taking on the power station team on July 14 at Morecambe FC’s Globe Arena, raising money for Marie Curie, CancerCare and the Guardian’s Twins Appeal.

The stations efforts have been supported by BlackZest Marketing, a young start-up business which is handling the social media side of the game.

Organiser Mike Grimmitt said: “The buzz around this game on Facebook is amazing, so we are hoping for a record-breaking crowd to come and support these guys who play for free and after the game then spend time with their fans.”

The gates open at The Globe at 1pm, with the game kicking off at 2pm. Car parking is available at The Globe at £3 on a first come basis. Tickets for the match, available at The Globe in advance or on the day, will be £6 per adult, £3 per child and £15 family pass (two adults and two children).

Also being held this weekend is the Cancer Research Race for Life. This year’s event, on Sunday, is being held at Lancaster University from 11am.
