Sexual assault on cycle path

POLICE in Lancaster are appealing for witnesses after a woman was sexually assaulted as she walked along a cycle path in Lancaster.

The incident happened around 6.30pm on September 2, when the 26-year-old local woman was walking along the cycle path between Longmarsh Lane and the Millennium Bridge.

A man approached and assaulted her, before running off towards Longmarsh Lane.

The man was white, in his mid-20s to early-30s, around 5ft 6ins to 5ft 8ins tall, with short light brown hair. He was wearing thick-rimmed glasses, a dark coloured zip-up jacket, dark coloured trousers and was carrying a rucksack.

PC Martin Wilcock said: “I urge anybody who witnessed this incident, or has information to contact police.”
