School pupils shocked after crash with car

A bus full of schoolchildren and a car collided during afternoon rush hour in Lancaster on Friday.

The crash between a Stagecoach bus and a Vauxhall car happened at 3.20pm on Friday at the top of Penny Street in Lancaster.

The front bumper was ripped off the car.

Schoolchildren were on the bus including children from Ripley St Thomas school on their way home when the crash happened.

Helen Wadeson, whose two children were on the bus, said: “The kids were shocked and it was chaos.”

No-one was hurt in the collision.

Traffic was back to normal by 5pm, police said.
