Our campaign to Save Our Hospice kicks off with a bang this Saturday night.

Reporters and staff from the Lancaster Guardian and The Visitor will be on hand at Lancaster City’s Giant Axe as part of the city’s fireworks spectacular as we launch our bid to secure the long-term future of St John’s Hospice in style.

This year the Dolly Blues’ venue to view the Lancaster display, which will see fireworks shot from the castle at 8pm, will host fundraising activities in aid of the Slyne Road charity.

We will be on hand to tell everyone about the campaign so don’t hesitate to come and grab a leaflet kindly sponsored and put together by Chris Whitehead and Morecambe Press.

After the fireworks spectacular there will be a series of events throughout the campaign as we bid to raise half a million pounds for St John’s Hospice and ensure this vital community facility is around for future generations.

The first of these will be our Festive Cake Bake week.

We want everyone and anyone, including families, schools and businesses, to bake sweet treats of any shape or size, Christmas-themed or not, to raise money for the campaign. Don your apron in the week of December 2 and 8 and you can support Save Our Hospice by charging entry to Festive Cake Bake events as well as selling your treats for charity
cash.

We’ll be revealing more events in the Lancaster Guardian in the coming weeks.
