There’s now another great reason for local businesses to get involved with our Save Our Hospice Virtual Balloon Race.
The company that sells the most balloons for our race on March 7 as part of our appeal to raise £500,000 to preserve St John’s Hospice for future generations will get a free advert in our newspapers.
This is of course a balloon race with a difference - as there are no actual balloons.
For just £3 you can buy a ‘balloon’ and watch it fly with the one that travels the furthest being crowned the winner seven days later.
And whoever’s victorious will win a great family day out courtesy of Megazone, Morecambe Superbowl, Reel Cinemas and Frankie and Benny’s.
Your £3 buys you a card with the unique code allowing you to design your balloon and then follow its progress online when the race starts on Friday, March 7 at 10am.
The event is a first for the area and our aim is to sell 5,000 balloons over the next month.
Any businesses wanting to get involved should contact Anna Scott on 01524 382538 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Anna also wants to hear from schools and community groups with competitions also running for local primary schools.
Individuals can buy their balloon card for £3 from the hospice reception, any of the hospice’s nine charity shops, the Lancaster and Morecambe Newspapers office on Victoria Street, Morecambe, or online at www.rabr.co.uk/SJH.
*We are holding a book sale in aid of the Save Our Hospice campaign this Saturday in Morecambe’s Arndale Centre.
