Rumble headlines Morecambe wrestling event

It's almost time to rumble as wrestling returns to the Morecambe Winter Gardens.

A 20-man over-the-top-rope rumble will be part of the next grapple night at the theatre.

The show is called ‘Golden Chance’ and will see 20 wrestlers compete in one match to find out who can have a shot at the Alpha Omega Wrestling championship.

Competitors will include long-standing Morecambe favourite Joey Hayes, the hated Laird Grayson, little and large tag team Solar Power, James Drake and his stable of disciples The Following, and popular Blackpool star Ricky J McKenzie.

The main event of Saturday night’s show will see Stixx defend the AOW-UK Championship against ‘The Showstealer’ Nathan Cruz.

Stixx, ‘The Heavyweight House of Pain’, will hope to continue his extraordinary undefeated streak in Morecambe which stretches back to April 2008.

His talented opponent Cruz has been drafted in by nefarious wrestling manager Greg ‘The Truth’ Lambert who has been obesessed with finding a man to end the streak.

Also on the show, stripper turned trainspotter Unsexy Kev will hope to rediscover his mojo in a match with trained opera singer turned grappler Magnificent Matthew Brooks.

There will also be a tag team ‘Beat the Clock’ Challenge and a women’s championship match pitting champion Viper against challenger Alexis Rose.

Doors open at 6pm, bell time 6.30pm.
