Royals not up our street

TOWN Hall chiefs have received only one application to close a road for a royal street party to celebrate the wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton.

The Rev Richard Davis has applied to Lancaster City Council to close Norwood Drive in Torrisholme on April 29 for a party to which more than 100 households will be invited, including those in Longton Drive, Marsh Crescent and Thorpe Avenue.

Mayor of Lancaster, Coun Tony Wade, this week told of his shock that nobody else had applied and urged communities to consider hosting parties ahead of the council’s deadline for applications next Thursday.
