Local residents had an opportunity to shape accommodation in Morecambe, as proposals were revealed to transform the Broadway Hotel into high-quality retirement living accommodation.
McCarthy & Stone is proposing to redevelop the hotel into homes offering older people the support and services to help them live happier, healthier and longer lives.
Steve Secker of McCarthy & Stone said “We are delighted with the amount of local support our proposals have received throughout the consultation process and would like to thank the community for their valuable comments, which have helped shape our final plans.”
He added, “We’ve already spent time carefully researching the architecture and character of the local area to ensure what we build is what our customers, as well as the local community, would like to see in Morecambe.”
McCarthy & Stone’s plans offer a deliverable scheme featuring approximately 47 apartments comprising one and two bedrooms for private sale in a specifically designed development promoting independent living and a sense of community.
A typical Retirement Living development can create up to 120 local jobs during the construction process and generate more than £675,000 a year into the local economy through resident spending according to developers McCarthy & Stone.
