A new pub and restaurant was officially opened in Morecambe last week.

Pupils on the school council at Westgate Primary School planted a time capsule in the beer garden of The Hurley Flyer, at Morecame Football Club’s Globe Arena, to commemorate its opening on Monday.

Pupils Daniel, Bethany, Lizzie, Rebecca, Trafford and Benjamin were joined by the RLNI lifeboat crew from the Hurley Flyer, pub manager Darren Key, Mayor of Lancaster coun June Ashworth and Morecambe FC manager Jim Bentley.

The pub, run by brewers and pub chain Marstons, features an outdoor play area and an indoor kids zone.

It follows the opening of The Globe Arena, Morecambe FC’s new home, in 2010.
