PROTESTERS camping in Lancaster’s Dalton Square are to vacate the site on Christmas Eve.

The Occupy Lancaster group, which has been on the site since the public sector strike on November 30, decided to call a halt to the camp following a meeting on Saturday.

The group has been protesting against capitalism and public sector cuts.

Numbers grew from the start of the protest, and at its height there were 11 individual tents and two communal marquees.

See the Lancaster Guardian (22-12-11) for full story.

Peaceful protest camp to stay.
