Politician with Lancaster ties gets CBE

A CBE has been awarded to the son of Lancaster politicians Stanley Henig and Baroness Ruth Henig.

Coun Simon Henig, leader of Durham County Council, received the award in the New Year Honours for political and public service.

Meanwhile an ex-student of Lancaster University, Alan Yarrow, has been knighted for services to international business, inclusion and the city of London as last year’s Lord Mayor of London.

A former High Sheriff of Lancashire, Peter Mileham, was made an OBE for services to the community in the county.

Colour Sgt Robert Delamar, of the Duke of Lancaster’s Regiment, was awarded a military division MBE.
