TWO robbers who stole £21,500 from a Lancaster post office, one armed with a hammer, have been jailed.
Eoghan McMullen, 30, of Pinehurst Avenue, Anfield, Liverpool and Michael Carroll, 38, of Wenlock Road, Liverpool, had both pleaded guilty to the robbery at Scale Hall Post Office on Cleveleys Avenue at an earlier Preston Crown Court hearing.
During the raid on October 1 last year, the pair jumped over the counter, one of them landing on top of terrified David Rawsthorn, who was forced to open the safe.
Carroll, who had previous convictions for 40 offences, was sentenced to an indeterminate sentence for public protection, with a minimum term of 31 months. Only them can the Parole Board consider his case and he will be on licence for the rest of his life.
McMullen, who had previous convictions for 72 offences mainly for dishonesty and drug offences, was jailed for four years and eight months.
