Park’s jobs boost

Up to 60 new jobs could be created at Lancaster Leisure Park as the venue continues to grow despite the economic downturn.

A 140-seat cafe/restaurant and a children’s play area with indoor and outdoor sections are the latest developments lined up for the Wyresdale Road site.

Together, they could create more than 30 new jobs.

And leisure park owner Allan Blackburn is hoping to attract more specialist shops to the site over the next two or three years, which he says could mean another 20 to 30 jobs.

The park was last year boosted by the arrivals of Lancaster Brewery and the Country Style Meats farm shop.

Employment there has since grown by a third and the site now supports 150 jobs.
