Last week in Parliament the debate continued on James Warton MP’s Private Member’s Bill – the European Referendum Bill, which had been previously adjourned.
Unfortunately, once again the debate was not concluded due to deliberate delays by members from other parties.
However this Bill will return to the House again this Friday and I will continue to try and ensure that it is passed so that we do finally get our right to finally say yes or no on the very important issue of Europe. Up here in Lancaster I managed to get along to Lancaster Royal Grammar School’s speech day which was held in the town hall.
This annual event once again highlighted what a great school we have here in Lancaster and my congratulations to the prizewinners and the headteacher Dr Pyle and all his great staff.
I also had a rather festive weekend, starting on Saturday where I attended the switch-on of the Christmas lights over in Fleetwood. Here in Lancaster I was delighted to see our lights go on, on Sunday and want to thank the organisers and Bay Radio for a fantastic event.
I was also pleased to hear that the council will be offering free car-parking for late night shopping days and Sundays – hopefully something that will boost local trade.
