Have your say

I spoke in the House of Commons on Monday following the Secretary of State for Health Jeremy Hunt’s statement on the Keogh report.

While speaking, I called for Andy Burnham MP to resign as Shadow Secretary of State for Health.

Andy was Secretary of State under the previous Labour Government in the run-up to the 2010 general election.

I have also separately written to Andy on three occasions.

I received a response to the first letter but not to the second letter or the follow-up letter I sent towards the end of last week. All of the letters address concerns from constituents.

Last week I was lucky enough to meet a group of young entrepreneurs from Lancaster & Morecambe College.

I presented them with their awards and I did think it was a little bit like being on Dragon’s Den.

One idea in particular was the Lazy Bake idea developed by Mike Fort and Matt Whelan.

You just add a few ingredients and put the container in the microwave for a few minutes and you have a freshly baked cake.

I tweeted the idea to some of the Dragons and I am going to speak to the catering managers in Parliament to see if they’ll consider stocking Lazy Bake at the House of Commons.

Also last week, I was pleased to meet up with Scott Farmer.

He is running from Scarborough Pier to the Eric Morecambe Statue which is 123 miles.

Scott is based at Alexandra Barracks in Lancaster and is hoping to raise as much money as possible for Help For Heroes.
