Well done to everyone who spent so much time organising the Morecambe Carnival over the weekend, it was a really amazing event.
It was nice to see so many people visiting Morecambe and that is something I notice has been reflected on social media with a number of people commenting on what a great day they had.
There were some really brilliant floats and some amazing live music.
I had a great day and I hope the carnival will return again.
Earlier in the week, I was interviewed on BBC Radio 4’s “The World at One” about the AstraZeneca takeover and was asked whether there would be a political gain for the Chairs of the Select Committees.
I said that I serve on two Select Committees, both of which have Labour Chairs who are excellent.
What disturbs me is that the Leader of the Opposition has gone on the record to say that we must look into the matter.
Why has he suddenly said that about this particular company, when takeovers happen all the time in the City?
The Secretary of State seemed to agree with me as he made the point that he was “slighty puzzled” that Ed Miliband, the Leader of the Opposition, had made a party political point.
I want to know what you think, your feedback is really important to me.
I’ve launched a new constituency wide survey which is currently being delivered through your door.
If it’s easier, you can let me know your thoughts about Morecambe & Lunesdale online by looking at the special website I have setup for the survey www.letdavidknow.co.uk.
If after completing the form you have more to say, please do remember that you can contact me via any of the methods listed below.
After the huge success of last year’s summer tour, I’ll be doing the same again this year.
If you would like me to visit where you live, please do get in touch and thank you to those of you who have already invited me.
Please keep an eye out on this column for details of where I will be and when.
