Last Wednesday at Prime Minister’s Question Time, I asked the Prime Minister to help me with my campaign to keep Skerton High School open.
When I was speaking in the House of Commons, I did make the point that I have already spoken to the Secretary of State for Education about Skerton and I have a meeting planned for later this month with the Education Minister, but any assistance the Prime Minister can give me will be greatly appreciated. Please do continue to write to the ounty council and your local county councillor with your views.
On Monday and Tuesday I represented the UK at the Interparliamentary Space Conference at the Belgian Senate in Brussels. Also this week, I will be leading two Parliamentary debates. The first will take place in the House of Commons on Wednesday when I will present my Bill to define in UK law Gibraltar’s territorial waters. This is a big issue internationally. Last month I met with the First Minister of Gibraltar to promote my Bill.
Also on Wednesday I will lead a debate in Westminster Hall about a Badger Vaccine. The issue of the spread of Bovine TB is a very big issue among the farming community nationally. As you will know badgers have been culled to prevent the spread of Bovine TB. However, I have another suggestion to make which would involve vaccinating badgers and I will present this idea to MPs on Wednesday afternoon. I hope Wednesday’s Westminster Hall debate will be the start of a bigger debate on how we can prevent the spread of Bovine TB while protecting our badgers.
I have a number of advice surgeries planned for the coming weeks. The next surgeries are planned for Friday November 15 and Friday December 6 at Tesco Carnforth.
