On Friday I was hosting street surgeries when the news came from the Royal Courts of Justice in London that the Secretary of State won the Judicial Review action relating to the Heysham M6 link road.

This means that construction of the road can finally begin. This is great news because the M6 link will be the economic backbone of this area bringing jobs and strengthening the economy more generally.

This week I returned to Parliament after the party conference season recess. I will be tabling a Parliamentary motion about the proposed closure of Skerton Community High School. I am pleased to tell you that the campaign has gathered pace and I will also be presenting the petition to Downing Street and to the House of Commons.

If you’d like to sign it, look out for the petition in local shops but if you can’t find a copy e-mail me david.morris.mp@parliament.uk<mailto:david.morris.mp@parliament.uk>and I’ll make sure your name is added. It’s still imperative you respond to the consultation by writing directly to Lancashire County Council.

Over recent weeks I have been speaking to councillors at Silverdale Parish Council and we have now agreed the wording for a petition relating to rail services through Silverdale. I’ll be producing this petition this week and hope it’ll be circulated either later this week or early next so please contact your local Silverdale councillor if you would like your name added to this petition which will be presented to rail companies and the House of Commons.

I have a number of advice surgeries planned for the coming weeks. The next one in this coming Friday, October 11, at Asda near Salt Ayre leisure centre. Then I have surgeries on Friday November 15 and Friday December 6 at Tesco Carnforth. My supermarket surgeries are drop-in surgeries so there is no need to make an appointment. Just come along on the day. Of course you can always contact my office if you need help and advice. My number is 01524 841225.

I produce a regular e-newsletter that is delivered to your inbox. If you would like to join my mailing list take a look at my website.
