POLICE discovered a cannabis factory in the cellar of a Lancaster house after carrying out a drugs raid.
Officers executed a search warrant at a property on Derby Road at around 4.30pm on Thursday, January 5, following complaints of a smell coming from the address and the discovery of a small number of plants.
Further investigation revealed over 50 plants in varying stages of maturity and a large quantity of recently harvested cannabis.
The plants, which have an estimated street value of up to £20,000, were seized, along with a sophisticated hydroponic setup.
A 31-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of a class B drug. He has been released on police bail pending further inquiries.
Insp Sheralee Duckworth, Lancaster police, said: “The observations of a member of the public led to the discovery of the cannabis factory.
“This highlights the importance of people alerting us to any suspicions they may have about drugs and drug dealing in their neighbourhoods.”
