Lancaster nostalgia: Yates and Jacksons
Guardian reader Pamela Raleigh sent in this picture of her grandfather who worked at Yates and Jacksons.
William Billington (first left) worked all his life at Yates & Jacksons and his only break was during World War One swerved on the Somme.
William met his wife Beatrice through Yates & Jacksons because her parents had the horse and farrier were she worked after getting home from the mill.
Later on Beatrice took a job cleaning the offices and did not finish until she was 70-years-old.
Thank you to Mrs Raleigh for sending in the picture.
