A new wind turbine will be constructed at Greenlands Farm Village near Carnforth.

The plans, by Urban Wind Ltd, were approved at a Lancaster City Council Planning Committee meeting on Monday, and will see a 35m high turbine erected next to a copse of trees at the rear of the open farm.

The turbine will produce power for Greenlands Farm, as well as feeding into the National Grid.

Coun Roger Mace expressed concern that there would be an unreasonable “cumulative visual impact” due to the presense of other wind turbines in the area. The plans also received 23 letters of objection but councillors voted 11 to one in favour.
