Owen Lambert, 18, a student at Edge Hill University in Ormskirk, was on a politics visit when the attack happened.

The former Morecambe High School pupil had just come out of Parliament when he was hit by a car which “came out of nowhere” and ploughed into pedestrians.

He was later taken to hospital after being told by paramedics he would need stitches to a head wound.

Owen said this morning (Thursday): “Battered and bruised but doing fine, massive thanks to Metropolitan Police and the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital for helping me through this ordeal and an even bigger thanks to all my family and friends for supporting me every step of the way.”

Four people have died after the Westminster attack, including a woman in her 40s, a man in his 50s, PC Keith Palmer and the attacker, police said.

In the attack on Wednesday (March 22), a man drove a car along Westminster Bridge knocking down pedestrians, leaving dozens injured.

The attacker then stabbed a policeman and was shot dead by police in the grounds of Parliament.

Seven arrests have been made after police conducted raids through the night and this morning following the Westminster attack.
