Man charged with inciting looting in Lancaster

A 28-YEAR-OLD man from Heysham has been charged with inciting looting in Lancaster via Facebook, following riots across England.

Karl Manley, 28, of Goldfinch Close, has been bailed to appear before Lancaster Magistrates Court on August 19.

Assistant Chief Constable Peter White of Lancashire Constabulary said: “A 28-year-old man from Heysham has been arrested and charged in connection with a message placed on a social networking site.

“Fortunately in Lancashire, we have had no major incidents of the kind of disorder seen elsewhere over recent nights. There have been some isolated incidents of criminal damage in some areas of the county overnight, which is usual for this time of year, but given the wider national picture we will be investigating the circumstances surrounding the motivations for such behaviour.”
