An 82-year-old man collapsed after being robbed outside a bar in Lancaster city centre.

Police have now charged a 30-year-old Morecambe man in connection with the incident but are still appealing for witnesses to come forward.

The robbery happened sometime between 7pm and 7.30pm on Friday July 3 in the doorway of Bar 1725 in Market Street.

It is thought the victim was walking past the bar when a man asked him for money before pushing him into the doorway and taking a bag from him containing his mobile phone and other personal items.

The man has been left shaken and has since needed medical treatment after collapsing the next day.

DC 6014 Jill Neil of Lancaster CID said: “Members of staff at the bar and members of the public came to assist the victim but we are still appealing for any further witnesses to come forward.”
