Detectives have launched an investigation after a young woman was found in a distressed state on one of the city’s main roads.
A man came across the 22-year-old on Caton Road at around 3am on Thursday, December 5 and feared for her welfare.
She was taken to the Royal Lancaster Infirmary, but police said they do not yet know what happened to her.
Lancashire officers are appealing for anybody with any information to come forward.
Detective Inspector Andrew Bunn said: “The circumstances of this incident remain unclear at this time and we are still trying to establish exactly what may have occurred.
“If anybody thinks they may have seen this young woman in the Caton Road area around 3am on Thursday morning and can provide us with information they think could assist our investigation then I would urge them to contact police.
“I am particularly keen to speak with the man who found the woman. We believe he may have been driving a Maxi lorry. If this was you, or you know who this was, then please come forward.”
Anybody with any information can contact police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
