Two women have been taken to hospital following a collision between a car and a HGV at Crooklands earlier today.

The driver of the car – a 43-year-old woman from Lancaster – was trapped in the vehicle after the collision and had to be cut free by firefighters.

She was taken to hospital by a land ambulance with non-life threatening injuries.

A female passenger was taken to the Royal Lancaster Infirmary as a precaution but her injuries are not thought to be non-life threatening.

The 45-year-old male driver of the HGV suffered no injuries.

The air ambulance and fire crews attended the scene along with police and paramedics.

The A65 has now reopened.
