Firefighters were called to a barn fire in Cockerham. The fire broke out in a single storey barn in Gulf Lane in the village at 2.30pm on Monday. Twenty tonnes of hay were alight with an area 35 metres by 30 metres. Five fire engines attended the scene
Residents evacuated during blaze drama
Thirty residents were evacuated from an apartment block as firefighters dealt with a blazing car. The blaze broke out in a basement car park at flats in Station Road, Lancaster, at 3.30am on Sunday, September 22. Acting watch manager Michael Dawson said: “The residents were allowed back to their apartments after approximately one hour.”
The car was badly damaged and six others were affected.
