Johnston Press held a 5-a-side football tournament in Leicester on Sunday, with teams from around the country competing.
Lancaster and Morecambe Newspapers/Lancashire Evening Post entered a team, Boca Seniors, and reached the final, losing on penalties to Digital First.
After losing their opening two games games, including a Lancashire derby defeat to Burnley, Boca Seniors won their remaining three matches to win the group and reach the knock out stages.
In the quarter finals, Boca took on NEP Eindhoven and went 2-0 down early on, only for Andy Billington to pull a goal back from the penalty spot and then Tim Sparks levelled the scores with a dramatic late strike, taking the tie to spot kicks.
Boca won on penalties to set up a semi final clash with Woodston Warriors, with Garth Hamer grabbing the winner with just a minute to go.
In the final, Boca took on Digital First but with neither side able to break the deadlock the tournament finale was decided on a penalty shoot-out. With Andy Billington and Jason Bellinger missing their penalties, Boca finished runners-up with Digital First claiming the trophy.
