Second road tragedy for Ingleton family

A FAMILY are grieving after losing a second son following a fatal car crash.

Samuel Lishman, 23 from Ingleton, died when his Ford Focus collided with a Vauxhall Vivaro van at about 8.40am on Tuesday on the A683 Melling Road near Hornby.

Mr Lishman was taken to Royal Lancaster Infirmary where he was pronounced dead a short time later. The man driving the van was uninjured.

Mr Lishman’s death follows that of his brother Christian, aged 17, following a two-car collision in May 2004, leaving their parents Robert and Andrea Lishman, also from Ingleton, devastated.

The road was closed for four hours following the incident to allow an accident investigation to take place.

Sgt Mick Young said: “A full investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collision is now underway.

“I would appeal to anybody who may have witnessed it to contact police and I would also like to speak with anybody who may have seen either of these cars being driven prior to the collision.”

Anyone with information should call police on 01524 63333.
