A record number of ladies will take to the streets of Lancaster and Morecambe for St John’s Hospice’s eighth annual Moonlight Walk this Saturday night.

This year 1,369 fundraisers will take on either the 14k or 25k walk in an event that last year raised more than £100,000 for the Slyne Road charity.

The individual who raises the most money for Saturday’s event will win a year’s hairdressing at Jo and Cass with a second prize of a treatment each month for a year at the Midland Spa, Morecambe.

Head of fundraising, Catherine Butterworth, said: “We are so grateful to all the walkers, volunteers, marshals, local businesses and everyone who joins together to make this event such a special part of our community year after year.

“We simply couldn’t continue to run without it.”

The walk is supported by an army of volunteers on the night including marshals.

Call 01524 382538 or email fundraising@sjhospice.org.uk if you would like to volunteer your help.

Registration for the walk closed yesterday, Wednesday.
