If you’re in Lancaster city centre this Sunday (August 10) you might stumble across a one-woman band.
Sam Middleton will be parading up and down the streets of the city playing a number of musical instruments all by herself and all for a very good cause.
Sam, from Morecambe, will hold a 12-hour ‘Buskathon’ to raise money for her friend John Cody, who is battling colon cancer.
She used to play in a band with John, who lives in America, in the 1990s.
“He is a dear friend and has to pay for all his hospital treatment,” said Sam.
“He’s an amazing musician, so I’ll be busking from 9am to 9pm to help him.”
Known as ‘the One Sam Band’. Sam, who grew up in Canada, also works as a teacher for More Music in Morecambe, running drum workshops.
She also drums in several local bands working alongside some of the area’s top musicians including Ben McCabe, and Howard Haigh.
